External feats on Cheap Records have been limited and very well pondered.
During our almost 30 years-long history, we've been exploring all kinds of electronic music styles. Yet, somehow, electro (and we mean real electrofunk) has been a kind of least common denominator, uniting all our gang.
The choice to collaborate with Dez Williams, and therefore to involve a unique voice within the electro scene, was also natural in this case, and a good opportunity for both: back then, apart from a handful of single EPs , Dez had released only a single album.
As hermetic as it is immersive, his dark grooves aim to draw the soul out of old abandoned buildings or invite listeners to explore feelings usually rejected and run from, such as fear, melancholy, and pain.
His ability to carve out a distinctive sound in a short time within a genre as complex and well represented as electro is really noteworthy, and even today, we find it difficult not to be very proud of this release.
